UNILAG, giant of all

UNILAG the most preferred by Nigerian students. UNILAG the ‘giant’ of all other universities in Nigeria. To some, this is a cliché and not reality. Going to school everyday from home to most students of this ‘great’ school had almost become an ordeal when the hostels were closed. On account of this, students had to struggle to overcome different hurdles in order to get to school in good time, for early morning lectures. Amidst all of this, the students did not complain, ‘they were been humbled.’ The transport fares of campus shuttles from outside the school have recently been increased from the normal fare of N20 to N30. Students have had no choice but to comply. An alternative to the students would have been the shuttles provided by the school authorities that ply the roads within the school, but the fares have also been hiked. All these changes have been to the detriment of the students, but we take solace in the fact that it won’t be long before we are redeemed from this torture house at the end of our four or five years of a stressful sojourn. In the mean time, we thank the school for the re-opening of the hostels. To me that is the only thing that the school has done to show that it has  the students welfare at heart. The school authorities have a lot more to do to cater for the well being of its students, then can Unilag be truly the greatest.
